Mississippi Son
Mississippi Son tells the heartwrenching and heartwarming stories of loss, fear, courage, and hope in the wake of the worst natural disaster in American history, Hurricane Katrina. To this day, the media, the Small Business Administration, the insurance companies, and FEMA have neglected and mistreated the victims. Promised funds have not come through – grants have turned into "negative grants" – and all while billions continue to pour into war. Mississippi Son is a deep, powerful, and meaningful message: we must not forget the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. They still need our help – they have largely been abandoned by government agencies and the insurance industry. Emmy award winning director/editor, Don Wilson, was born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi. The film has an original blues-rock film score composed and recorded by professional musicians who survived the storm. (95 minutes)
