Fast Lane Summer is the story of a group of guys who build and race old-time ‘top fuel’ dragsters… the fastest piston-driven cars in the world… often reaching speeds of over 250 miles per hour in less than six seconds…
While Fast Lane Summer is a story about racing… it’s mostly a story about the people who do it. It is a story of dreams and dreamers … of risk and reward… of
success and failure.
Mike Civelli, one of the owners of the car, has been building and racing dragsters since he was 14. He apprenticed to Don Garlits the summer he was 16. Mike is now in his forties, and has always wanted to run a Top Fuel dragster. So he traded in everything he had, found some like minded guys, and built the Foothill Flyer.
Pete Jensen is his partner. Pete is also the Crew Chief of the team. Like Mike, he has kicked around the circuit since he was a teenager himself, and although Mike often
laments the day they ever met, the two hooked up several years ago and have been friends ever since.
And then, there’s driver Jerry Kumre Jr. Jerry’s never driven a Top Fuel Dragster before, and the jury is still out on whether or not he can make the jump to this level of racing. But Jerry is pretty sure of himself.
